B. Everett Jordan Lake is a roughly 14,000-acre reservoir spread across Chatham County, just west of Apex and south of Chapel Hill. It is the biggest open water within easy reach of the Triangle, with wide main-channel stretches for opening up the throttle and quieter coves when you want to slow down and swim.
Jordan Lake sits along US 64 between Apex and Pittsboro, with US 1 and NC 55 feeding in from the east. It is the closer of the two lakes for riders coming from Cary, Apex, Morrisville, Chapel Hill, Pittsboro and Holly Springs.
On a summer weekend Jordan is the busiest recreational water in the region. Morning slots usually hold the flattest water; by mid-afternoon boat traffic builds and the main channel gets choppy — fun if you like jumping wake, less ideal if it is your first time on a ski.
